The Goan Institute was founded in 1970. Our mission is to strengthen the unity of the Goan community in San Francisco and the Bay Area and to foster, preserve and promote Goan heritage, traditions and customs through social, cultural and sports activities.

In 2015, the Goan Institute (“GI”) will complete 45 years since its founding – a historic milestone! From its humble beginnings of 20 members, its current membership stands at over 500.
